PATIENT RIGHTS: RESTRAINT OR SECLUSION

Based on document review and interview with key personnel on March 22, 2012, it was determined that the facility failed to implement a restraint policy the included all the required elements. The findings include:
1. On March 22, 2012, a review of the facility policy " Restraint and Seclusion for Behavioral Management Reasons " was conducted.
2. The policy failed to address the definition and use of drugs and medications as restraints.
3. The policy was reviewed with the Director of Quality and Patient Safety on March 22, 2012. She concurred with the findings, and agreed that the policy failed to address the definition and use of chemical restraints.
