Based on record review and interview, the CAH failed to ensure the RN provided or assigned the nursing care of each patient to other personnel in accordance with the patient's needs and the specialized qualifications and competence of the staff available as evidenced by failure of the RN to conduct the initial admission assessment of 1 (#2) of 3 (#1, #2, #3) patient records reviewed for initial admission assessments from a total patient sample of 5.

Findings:

Review of the admission procedure checklist provided by the CAH revealed in part, RN to complete initial admission assessment and health history.

Review of Patient #2's electronic medical record revealed an admission date of 02/10/2022. Further review revealed S7LPN conducted the initial admission assessment. The initial admission assessment was then reviewed by S8RN.

In an interview on 03/23/2022 at 2:21 p.m. S5RN verified the above stated findings. S5RN verified the initial admission assessment should have been conducted by a registered nurse.
