Tag No.: K0130
Surveyor #3
NFPA 80 99ed
15-2.3.3 Blocking or wedging of doors in the open position shall be prohibited.
Based on observation the hospital failed to ensure doors are not blocked by door wedges and that doors closed to resist the passage of smoke.
Failure to remove door wedges allows the doors to remain open and potentially exposes patients to smoke in the case of a fire.
Findings:
On 1/10/2012 during a tour of the hospital the surveyor observed that the MIS Supervisor door and the MIS storage room door were held open by door wedges.
Tag No.: K0147
Surveyor #3
Based on observation the hospital failed to maintain the electrical wiring and equipment in compliance with the National Electrical Code.
Failure to properly maintain electrical wiring and electrical equipment in safe operating condition places the patients at risk for possible injury from an electrical fire.
Finding:
On 1/10/2012 during a tour of the hospital the surveyor observed an overload current protection device which powered a coffee maker in the MIS work area. The power cord was plugged into an electrical receptacle in the MIS Supervisor office and run through the door opening into the main MIS work area. The electrical power cord could be pinched in the door frame and damage the power cord.
