Based on observations, record reviews, and interviews, the infection control officer failed to ensure the hospital's system for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases of patients and personnel was implemented in accordance with hospital policy and acceptable standards. This deficient practice was evidenced by having 64 wooden bedside tables and 24 wooden beds in the facility in the patients' rooms that could not be properly disinfected. Findings:
An observation was conducted on 07/08/2021 at 9:00 a.m. of the patients' bedside tables being made of exposed wood and some of the patient's bed being made of exposed wood.
Review of the order form provided by S1Adm revealed the facility has 64 bedside tables and 24 beds made out of the wood ordered in 2016 from the same company.
Review of the description provided by S3Plant Operation revealed the furniture was made out of solid southern yellow pine.
An interview was conducted with S1Adm on 07/08/2021 at 2 p.m. He confirmed the hospital had 64 wooden bedside tables and 24 wooden beds in the hospital.
