Based on observation and interview the facility failed to ensure Emergency Medical treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) signs are placed in all lobbies and treatment areas in 1 of 2 areas observed (Birthing Center.)
Findings include:
During a tour of the Birthing Center department on 9/22/2020 accompanied by Quality A it was observed that there were no EMTALA signs posted either at the entrance to the department or in the department itself.
Interview with Quality A on 9/22/2020 at 1:25 PM when asked about signage stated, "we have always wondered if the signage at the registration area was enough." In interview with Quality A she confirmed that patients could present directly to the Birthing Center bypassing registration.
