STOP-ORDERS FOR DRUGS

Based on review of pharmacy policies and procedures and staff interview, the facility failed to develop an automatic stop order policy for drugs and biologicals not specifically prescribed as to time or number of doses. The facility census was 74. The total sample was 74. Findings are:
A. Review of pharmacy policies and procedures on 4/4/12 from 9:00 -10:30 AM with the Pharmacy Manager revealed the facility does not have any automatic stop orders.
B. Staff interview with the Pharmacy Manager on 4/4/12 at 10:00 AM confirmed "We do not have a policy". The Pharmacy Manager also stated there are "no stop orders for narcotics either."
