Based on interview and record review, the facility failed to ensure that nursing care in the form of an ordered wound consult was performed in one of five sampled patients. (#1)
Findings:
A review of the medical record of patient #1 was performed. The patient was admitted to the facility on 1/29/10. The patient had a surgical wound on the chest from a recent Coronary Artery Bypass Graft operation. Physician orders of 1/29/10 read: " ET nurse consult for wound care " . There was no evidence in the medical record that a consult was provided. This was confirmed in an interview of the Risk Manager on 3/1/10 at 1:30 pm. The Risk Manager stated at this time that the wound care nurse had no recollection of this patient.
