Means of Egress - General

Tag No.: K0211

Based on observation and staff interview it was determined that the facility failed to maintain exit access corridors in accordance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2012 Edition.

Findings:

It was observed 11/27/17 at 12:00 PM that 3 large linen carts were being stored in the corridor, in the area of Materials Management. Staff RR and PP explained the items in the cart were clean items that had been delivered from laundry service, and belonged to the Dietary Department.

Storing these carts in the corridor could impede exiting in the event of a fire. The combustible materials also present a potential fire hazard within the means of egress.

This finding was confirmed with Staff RR and PP at the time of observation.
