PATIENT RIGHTS: EXERCISE OF RIGHTS

Based on medical record review and staff interview it was determined the facility failed to ensure the exercise of patient's rights were met. The facility failed to ensure all of the patient's personal belongings, upon the patient's discharge from the facility, were returned for one (#1) of three patients sampled.
Findings included:
Review of the medical record for patient #1 revealed the patient was admitted to the facility on 4/3/2021 and discharged on 4/7/2021. Review of the record revealed no evidence all of the patient's personal effects were returned to the patient upon discharge. The facility failed to ensure the facility form, "CFLH 042," was maintained in the patient's medical record.
Interview with the VP (Vice President) of Quality & Innovation and the Risk Manager on 4/22/2021 at 1:15 pm confirmed the patient's belongings were returned after her discharge but could not locate evidence in the medical record.
