Based on observation and staff interview the facility failed to assure the 1 hour smoke barrier wall is properly sealed. This deficient practice fails to ensure the prevention of the spread of smoke and fire to other areas of the building, affecting 2 of 4 smoke zones. This facility has a capacity of 20 beds with a census of 6 at the time of the survey.
FINDINGS INCLUDE:
During the tour on 2/8/10 at 3:30 P.M. it was observed that a 2" copper drain line was running through 3" hole penetrating the smoke barrier wall located above the double fire doors in the corridor by the Director of Nursing's office. The annualar space/gap around the copper line was was not properly sealed.
Staff B, S and M were present and aware of the finding.
