Bringing transparency to federal inspections
Tag No.: A2402
Based on observation and interview the hospital failed to meet the requirements of §489.20 (q) (1) and (2) which required the ED to conspicuously post the appropriate signage in any place in the Emergency Department likely to be noticed by all individuals entering the unit, as well as those individuals waiting for examination and treatment.
Findings included:
A tour of Hospital A's ED was conducted on the afternoon of 05/17/2022. Appropriate signage at the ED entrance and at the triage area was observed. The signage specified the rights of individuals with emergency medical conditions and women in labor; and that the hospital participated in the Medicaid program. The signage was not in the ambulance bay/entry/hall area or in the fast track waiting room. RN #3 informed the surveyors the same signage was not posted in the 16 patient exam rooms in the ED.
