FORREST CITY MEDICAL CENTER 1601 NEWCASTLE ROAD FORREST CITY, AR 72335 July 29, 2011
VIOLATION: STAFFING AND DELIVERY OF CARE Tag No: A0392
Based on review of the Women's Services Schedule (which included Labor and Delivery, Nursery and Post Partum) it was determined 8 ( 07/14/11, 07/15/11, 07/18/11, 07/19/11, 07/22/11, 07/23/11, 07/24/11, and 07/27/11) of 14 (07/14/11 through 07/28/11) 7AM to 7PM shifts did not have a Registered Nurse (RN) assigned to the Post Partum Unit. Failure to assign a Registered Nurse to the Post Partum Unit did not allow the immediate availability of a RN for bedside care of patients on the Post Partum Unit. The failed practice had the potential to affect all patients on the Post Partum Unit on those days a RN was not assigned to the Unit. Findings follow:

Review of the Women's Services Schedule (which included Labor and Delivery, Nursery and Post Partum) presented by RN #1 on 07/29/11 at 1030 revealed 8 ( 07/14/11, 07/15/11, 07/18/11, 07/19/11, 07/22/11, 07/23/11, 07/24/11, and 07/27/11) of 14 (07/14/11 through 07/28/11) 7AM to 7PM shifts without a RN assigned to the Post Partum Unit.
