**NOTE- TERMS IN BRACKETS HAVE BEEN EDITED TO PROTECT CONFIDENTIALITY** Based on interview and record review, the facility failed to ensure 1 licensed nurse working in direct care of patients had a current and valid license out of 8 licensed nurses sampled. This failed practice had to potential decrease the quality and competency of services provided to patients of the hospital where the unlicensed nurse worked. Findings: During an interview on 5/29/19 at 12:00 pm, Licensed Nurse (LN) #1 explained the discharge planning process for Patient #3 whom he/she had been working with from 5/14-24/19 on discharge planning. During a human resources record review on 5/30/19 at 9:00 am, it was discovered that LN #1 provisional nursing license had expired on [DATE]. During an interview on 5/30/19 at 9:15 am, the Chief Quality Officer stated that the facility was unaware that LN #1's license had expired. He/she further stated that the LN should not have been working with patients with an expired license and had been pulled off the floor. |
