Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to provide a functional heating, ventilating and air conditioning system for the well baby nursery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)nursery.

The Standard: Air conditioning, heating, and ventilating ductwork and related equipment shall be in accordance with NFPA 90A, Standard for the Installation of Air-Conditioning and Ventilating Systems. - NFPA 101, 9.2.1. All rooms and areas in the hospital listed in Table 3 of 133.169 (c) Hospital Licensing Rules (HLR) shall have provision for positive ventilation. - HLR 133.162 (d)(3)(D)(i)

The findings: The air handling unit providing air for the well baby nursery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)nursery was not functional at the time of inspection, between the hours of 5:00 and 6:30 pm.
