Based on observation, and interview, the hospital did not ensure that their laboratory supplies had been maintained to ensure an acceptable level of safety and quality, in that, 96 of 96 blue top laboratory tubes in the labwork drawing area, were expired, and available for patient use.

Findings included:

During a tour of the hospital at 12:30 PM on 4/25/13, the surveyor observed 96 blue top laboratory tubes, expired in February 2013, and available for patient use in the labwork drawing area next to the Emergency Room (ER).

In an interview at 12:30 PM with the Lab Supervisor (Personnel #5), she confirmed that these 96 blue top laboratory tubes were expired, and had been available for patient use.
