Based on record review and interview, the facility nurse (Employee #2) did not administer morphine to Patient #1 in accordance with the orders of the practitioner.
Findings include:
1) Record review for Patient #1 included that the physician discontinued morphine at 7:04 PM on 09/11/10.
2) Record review included that Employee #2 administered morphine to Patient #1 at 5:45 AM on 09/13/10.
3) In an interview with the surveyor at 4:45 PM on 06/14/11 the Director of Quality Management was asked if Employee #2 had followed facility policy. She confirmed the employee had not followed facility policy.

"Medication Administration"
"...Individuals who prepare and administer medications shall do so only upon the order of a practitioner who has been granted clinical privileges..."
