Based on observation and interview the nurse failed to assess 1 of 1 patient (patient #8), whose medical equipment had been beeping during the surveyor's rounds on the fourth floor on 11/20/15.

Findings Included:

During a tour of the hospitals 4th floor on 11/20/15 at 1500 the medical equipment for patient #8 was heard beeping. The surveyor entered the room, and personnel #9 followed the surveyor into the room and turned the equipment off.

During an interview on 11/20/15 at 1510, personnel #9 stated the equipment was beeping for approximately 5 minutes.

Policy
The hospital Assessment and Reassessment of patients 10/01/14 reflected, "All patients receiving care or treatment at Hospital are assessed by qualified professionals. The goal of patient assessment is to identfiy patient care needs, identify additional information required and to base care decisions on the information developed about each patient."
