Based on the interview and observation review, the hospital failed to ensure the proper temperature to the patient areas were met.
Findings included:
1. During the facility tourn on On June 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM, Personnel #1 and the surveyor visited the second floor for a tour. During the facility tour, Personnel #1 utilized an infrared thermometer and commented on the mercury thermometer's accuracy in taking the room's temperature readings. The surveyor requested the use of the mercury thermometer in the rooms. According to the room thermostat, the temperatures of the following rooms were recorded: Room 220 - 79 degrees Fahrenheit, Room 216 - 78 degrees Fahrenheit and Room 218 - 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Furthermore, the mercury thermometer was left in room 216 for 10 minutes the thermometer read 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Personnel # 1 confirmed the above finding and reported that the hospital design parament for the patient room is 70 - 75° Fahrenheit.
2. During an interview On June 23, 2023, at 12:20 PM, Personnel #2 reported that the second floor had a previous problem with the air condition system in 2022, and a spot cooler was installed. Personnel # 2 reported that she noticed the spot cooler was back upon her return to the shift last week (week 24) of June 2023. Personnel #2 reported that it still feels hot even with the spot cooler.
3 During an interview on June 23, 2023, at 1:35 PM, Personnel #1 stated that they did not record the temperatures or document the temperature log on the second floor after installing the spot cooler in June 2023.
