Based on record review and interviews the hospital failed to establish prompt resolution of a patient grievance in that 1 of 10 patients (Patient #2's) complaint was not investigated for 40 days after staff notification.

Findings include:

Patient #2's Coding Summary Form dated 11/18/13 noted the patient was hospital admitted on 10/22/13 and discharged on 11/11/13.

Physician Admission Orders dated 10/22/13 at 01:14 noted Patient #2's admission diagnoses included Psychosis.

Multidisciplinary Progress Notes dated and signed by Hospital Personnel #8 on 11/06/13 at 16:00 noted a family therapy session where Patient #2's mother notified staff of a complaint.

Hospital Employee #7 was interviewed on 01/31/14 at 12:50. She denied management was aware of the alleged incident allegation until 12/16/13 when Patient #2's mother notified the hospital again. Hospital Employee #7 agreed that the incident had not been investigated until that time.

The hospital investigation of Patient #2's allegation was dated 12/18/13.

Hospital Policy titled Patient /Family Complaint Procedure dated 01/2012 noted that the "time frame for completion of the investigation is 72 hours after the receipt of the complaint..."
