Based on observation the facility failed to provide proper protection to all hazardous areas. Hazardous areas shall be constructed of at least one hour fire rated walls and have a forty five minute fire rated doors. The door to 3 of 7doors to hazardous areas was not self-closing. This deficiency affects all 6 patients in the facility
Note: NFPA 101, 2000 edition:
NFPA 101:8.4.1.3 Doors in barriers required to have a fire resistance rating shall have a 3/4-hour fire protection rating and shall be self-closing or automatic-closing in accordance with 7.2.1.8.
Findings:
During a tour of the facility on April 27, 2011 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. it was observed the the door to the small soiled utility room, material management room, and the holiday supply room was not automatic-closing or self-closing. These doors did not have a closure on them.
