Based on observation the facility failed to ensure that all doors to bedrooms latched and would remain closed for five out of 50 patient bedrooms. The census was 27 patients.

Findings included:

Observation during tour of the facility on 3/15/11 showed that rooms 1302, 1217, 1214, 1220, and 1225 did not latch when completely closed and would not remain closed.
Chapter 19.3.6.3.2 of the 2000 Life Safety code states that doors shall be provided with a means suitable for keeping the door closed that is acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. the device used shall be capable of keeping the door fully closed if a force of five foot pounds of force is applied at the latch edge of the door.
