Based on a review of documentation, the governing body failed to be responsible for services furnished in the hospital.

Findings were:

A review of facility policy 3.8 titled Nursing Services Policy on Patient Possessions reveals the following statement: "Procedure: 5. Each item should be logged into the patient's personal inventory sheet. Items brought later should be added to the inventory. Inventories of personal possessions and clothing will be provided to the patient/guardian upon discharge."

A review of the Patient Inventory sheets for patient #1 revealed that the patient's belongings were inventoried by staff on 8-18-13, the date of her admission. The same inventory sheet documents additional belongings received 8-28-13. No documentation was found to indicate that an inventory of the patient #1's belongings was performed and provided to patient #1 upon her discharge.

The above was confirmed in an interview with the facility Director of Nursing, Chief Operating Officer and Director of PI/Compliance on the afternoon of 1-8-14 in the facility conference room.
