Based on observation, record review, and staff interview, it was determined that the facility failed to maintain accurate records of the receipt and distribution of scheduled drugs.
Findings include:
1. On 7/17/13 at 11:00 AM, in the presence of Staff #2 and Staff #4, thirteen (13) Androderm 2mg (milligram) transdermal patches, a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance, were noted in the lock box of the medication cart assigned to Patient #7.
a. Review of the Controlled Drug Administration Record assigned to Patient #7 for the Androderm 2mg patches revealed that fourteen (14) patches were remaining in the inventory count. Thus, the inventory count and the amount of drug on hand did not reconcile.
