Based on interview and documentation review the Hospital failed to ensure that a treatment was carried out as ordered for one of eight patients.
Findings included:
A tour of the Medically Complex Unit was conducted with the Director of Nursing at 12:30 P.M. During the tour 8 randomly selected patients were interviewed. One of eight patients reported that the patient had not yet been provided with a treatment to the buttocks as ordered.
Review of the patient's Medication Administration Record (MAR), dated 1/10/10 to 1/19/10, indicated that on 1/18/10 Baza Cream had been ordered to be applied to the right buttock and gluteal fold three times daily. The Cream was scheduled to be applied at 9:00 A.M.
Observation of the MAR with the Director of Nursing indicated that the 9:00 A.M. scheduled application of Baza Cream had not been done.
