PATIENT RIGHTS: CARE IN SAFE SETTING

Based on observations and interviews the hospital failed to provide care in a safe setting as evidence by utilizing portable space heaters in 2 (104, 106) of 8(103, 104, 106, 107, 108, 109, 201, 205) patient rooms observed, which pose a fire safety hazard.
Findings:
On 01/19/2024 at 3:29 p.m. a tour of the facility with S1Adm revealed a portable heater running with an oxygen concentrator running in patient room 104 and a portable heater in patient room 106, not currently in use.
In an interview on 01/19/2024 at 3:29 p.m. Patient #2 stated the hospital provided the heater as her room got cool at times.
In an interview on 01/19/2024 at 3:50 p.m. S1Adm verified the use of portable heater in patient rooms, lobby and the therapy room.
