Based on Laundry Service Temperature Log review for 05/01/18 through 08/16/18, observation and interview, it was determined the facility failed to follow standards of practice of maintaining a sanitary environment in that there was no implementation of the Arkansas Rules and Regulations for Hospitals and Related Institutions for Table 9 in that laundry water temperatures were below the required minimum temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit 98 out of 108 times. The failed practice did not ensure textiles and fabrics were free from contaminants and had the potential to affect all patients and staff. Findings follow.
A. Review of the Laundry Water Temperature Logs showed "Must be 160 or above". Temperatures recorded form 05/01/18 to 08/16/18 showed no water temperatures recorded higher than 135 degrees F.
B. The above findings in A were verified with Chief Executive Officer on 08/16/18 at 1:45 PM.
Based on observation it was determined the facility failed to follow standards of maintaining a sanitary environment for patient care areas and the food service preparations areas, in that there was no implementation of the Arkansas Rules and Regulations for Hospitals and Related Institutions for Table 9, in that water temperatures in the food preparation areas were below the required temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit (F), and patient care areas were below the required 105-120 degrees F. The failed practice did not ensure a sanitary environment had been maintained while preparing and cleaning food products for consumption, and did not ensure a comfortable water temperature was available for patients bathing needs. The failed practices had the potential to affect all patients and staff in the facility. Findings follow.
A. Water temperatures were tested during a tour of the facility on 08/16/18 at 1:15 PM and showed no water coming from the hot water faucet in the lobby restroom. Water temperatures tested in the kitchen showed a maximum temperature reached was 123 degrees F. Water tested in the Emergency room and other patient care areas were tested at a maximum temperature of 80 degrees F.
B. The above findings in A were verified with the Chief Executive Officer on 08/16/18 at 1:45 PM.
