Based on observation and interview, the hospital failed to ensure preventative maintenance for emergency service equipment for all emergency department patients.
Findings:
On 10/01/25 at 11:45 AM during a tour of the emergency department, a [name withheld] portable aspirator was observed on a crash cart. A sticker was affixed to the suction machine and read in part, "Preventative Maintenance ...DATE: 2/23 ...RE-INSPECT: 7/24."
On 10/01/25 at 11:45 AM, Staff G observed the suction machine and the sticker and stated the risk to patients was not being able to clear their airway.
